You may not care…but you should

It may sound good but this is horrible judicial behavior.  Kudos to a  young lawyer four months out of law school.

The “good judge” is under investigation by the Ohio Judicial Conduct authorities.  He’s a clown (and that is nice) of the first order.  The readers digest version…Brian Jones a public defender is appointed a client in the afternoon and is notified to appear the next morning.  He believes for pre-trial.  The judge orders him to begin trial.  He refuses, because he has had only 20 minutes to interview his client, no time to interview witnesses, no time to prepare a defense, subpoena witnesses etc…  Judge God here then holds him in criminal contempt and puts him in jail.  He then convicts him, sentences him etc…  The appeal of the contempt conviction was sucessful, not surprisingly, and the conviction tossed.

Here is the opinion from the Ohio appellate court, you have to manually advance the pages to read the short opinion.  Let’s hope this asshole judge is disciplined himself.  Portage County Ohio, why would you elect this clown?  Why would you re-elect him??  Can you recall him?  If you can’t see a problem with this behavior, I really have to wonder where the world is headed…
