Chicago chuckle

from Alan Korwin’s blog…here  Chicago’s very own…WGN…

…The media nationwide has its panties in a knot because a person showed up at an Obama protest bearing arms and wearing a white shirt and tie. Not just any firearm, but what they like to vilify as an “assault” rifle — an AR-15 typical household single-shot long gun. But to the media, it’s a menacing black gun. And it was worn by a black man, a fact they tried to hide. I took repeated calls for “news” interviews about this incredible occurrence…

Your hometown station WGN offered  up these gems…

Chicago’s WGN couldn’t believe we have the right to keep and bear arms out here. I had to tell them most places have RKBA, a surprise to them in their little cloister. “Do people shoot each other on the streets a lot?” They actually asked that. These folks aren’t in a bubble, they’re in a vacuum, they get nothing. “With your new guns-in-bars law, which has created quite a commotion here in Chicago, are there shootouts in bars?” I’m not making this up.

Get it?  Get it?  “Do people shoot each other on the streets a lot?”  Try this link.  Gee I dunno WGN…do peopole in Chicago shoot each other on the streets a lot?  Of course how could that be…nasty handguns aren’t allowed in Chi-Town.  Why don’t you folks at WGN ask Mayor Dick?

I was only the servant of my country and had I, at any moment, failed to express her unflinching resolve to fight and conquer, I should at once have been rightly cast aside. -Churchill

What has gone awry in Britain?  A complete loss of self-respect?…

Brit dad takes kids to park after school…a few punks block the swingset, he asks them to move so his daughter can swing…they grudgingly move, only to say something “horrible” to the daughter as soon as the dad steps away…all of which apparently leads to a personal trauma of epic proportions for Brit dad…

I have dreaded something like this since I became a dad. As a young man I got into fights but since having children I have tried to mellow, to demonstrate to my kids that violence is not the answer (and because I’m a 5ft 7in 42-year-old who never was particularly good at the whole scrapping malarkey). On the other hand, what message am I sending to my children by being pushed around? How can I tell my son to stand up for himself if I won’t stand up for him against bullies?

Life as a modern dad is full of these dilemmas. Working from home, I get to spend time with the children — and the dishwasher. As the son of a militant feminist, I was brought up thinking that this was A Good Thing. Yet recently I read a letter in The Times from a woman whose husband had lost his job; she found having him moping around the house all day very unsexy. Is there some deep part of my psyche that feels somehow emasculated?

So Brit dad summons up the stones enough to “confront” the punks and say “did you say something to my daughter?”   Wow…coming up with that caused a major trauma did it?  Eventually punks back down and say “no” they didn’t.

The Mayor of London recently advised Londoners — including his own four children — to walk away from trouble rather than get involved. But what would Boris Johnson do if someone picked on his children? I ask the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) what I should have done. The response is predictably anodyne: “The MPS recognises the concern residents have regarding antisocial behaviour. We work closely with other agencies to tackle the problem of youth crime. If anyone witnesses possible offences by youths, we advise them to contact police.”

The result?  How about this video.  You see it is best to walk away, just call the police.  How could anyone stand by and watch this happen?  This should tell you how…

Here lies my difficulty: were the youths committing an offence or simply being offensive? As I didn’t hear what they supposedly said maybe I should have backed off. But that’s what people do all the time: walk away, surrender our open spaces. The more I think about my actions, the more convinced I am that I did the right thing.

Gee?  Yah think?  So he is so conflicted he calls the police?  Predictably they counsel pacifism…”antisocial behaviour” it is…I guess even more conflicted now our protagonist then…

Just to make sure, I consult the clinical psychologist Linda Blair, whose book The Happy Child is published next month. “By approaching those youths you were placing your needs before those of your children,” she says. “By walking away you would have been protecting them and also providing a role model for the future.

“In this sort of situation you need to breathe in, hold it, then let the air out of your mouth. Ask yourself: is my child in immediate danger? If the answer is no, walk away. If they are in danger, you will do the right thing every time to protect your DNA, to preserve your own genetic material.”

What?!?  He calls a shrink…the author of yes, that’s right “The Happy Child” to get another opinion on what he did.  Walking away would have been the proper role model don’t you see.  Take a deep breath?!  WTF?  “Preserve your genetic material”!?!?!?!?  Yes it’s funny but truly sad.   Protect your genetic material are you kidding me?

Of course Britain has long since surrendered their right to own a handgun, and are well on their way to giving up the right to defend themselves much less their property or genetic material.

Self-respect, it’s a terrible thing to lose.

Dealing with “anti-social behaviour” apparently means surrendering the streets to every punk and hoodlum in sight.  For God sakes don’t stand up to them, let evil win at all costs.  Could this possibly be the same people who stood tall and alone during the blitz?

Britain has now given us this, yes the “anti-stab knife”, in a society that is now on it’s way to banning knives.  How do you eat your boiled meat without a knife?  Knife registration?  Joking you say?

The first “anti-stab” knife is to go on sale in Britain, designed to work as normal in the kitchen but to be ineffective as a weapon…It was invented by industrial designer John Cornock, who was inspired by a documentary in which doctors advocated banning traditional knives.

Do you think these Brit doctors want to ban surgical knives?  Of course not, they are the only ones who can use a knife…not you commoners.

The Times did manage to report that…here

Police recorded more than 26,000 serious knife attacks in the financial year to March 2009, an increase of six per cent on the previous year’s total.  The figures have brought calls for tougher punishments for youths caught carrying knives. Police leaders admitted last night that the findings demonstrate that knife crime is “spreading”.

David Codrea over at the War on Guns keeps pretty good track of the doings in Sarah Brady Paradise, where all is peaches and cream…er strawberries and cream.

In recent years governments have even felt it necessary to prevent the public from defending themselves with imitation weapons. In 1994 an English home-owner, armed with a toy gun, managed to detain two burglars who had broken into his house while he called the police. When the officers arrived, they arrested the home-owner for using an imitation gun to threaten or intimidate. In a similar incident the following year, when an elderly woman fired a toy cap pistol to drive off a group of youths who were threatening her, she was arrested for putting someone in fear. Now the police are pressing Parliament to make imitation guns illegal.

More here from a violent American.  And speaking of violence?

Britain’s violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed.  Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa – widely considered one of the world’s most dangerous countries.

But never mind that, you still will get a Euro-lecture if you suggest there is anything fundamentally wrong with the Brit view on crime and punishment much less guns.  Gun-crazed cowboys like Americans just aren’t sufficiently evolved to take the high road…and before you get too upity…the U.S. still has more homicides, a source of pride for Euro gun grabbers.  You see it is better to be stabbed to death, and unable to defend yourself with an effective weapon, than having those nasty handguns around.  Such the barbarians are we.

Think it can’t happen here?  Why is it that schools punish everyone for “fighting” regardless of who started it, who the aggressor was or any consideration of right or wrong.  Defending yourself is will not get you subjected to punishment in most American schools.  Why do people stand by and watch a 90 year old man be beaten?  I wonder.  How could those people stand there?  Because they have been conditioned to.  Why do we stand by and watch horror and attrocity in the world?  Because to do something about it would require some determination of moral rights and wrongs, verboten in the politically correct world.

One ought never to turn one’s back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never! -Churchill

(CNN) — The mayor of New Orleans, Louisiana, has been quarantined in China after possible exposure to the H1N1 virus, his office said Sunday.

story here

Nagin, his wife and a member of his security detail have been quarantined in Shanghai, China,…

Because you see he is worthy of being protected…you aren’t?  Who the hell is going to attack him in China?  Some boob mayor of New Orleans?  Who is he being protected from in China?  I figure it must be his brother in law that gets a trip to China on the taxpayer dime.

This never happened, not in Gun-Free Chi-Town.

June 3, 2009 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — Two men accused of killing a Chicago police officer were ordered held without bail Wednesday.  Wednesday’s bond hearing was packed with officers from the 7th District where Alejandro Valadez worked the streets of Englewood.  Prosecutors described both suspects as reputed gang members who were out to get revenge when they allegedly shot Valadez.  Emotions were high in court as their family members fought back tears.

Shot him with what?  No handguns in Chicago, just ask Reichsmarshall Dailey.

Within minutes of the shooting early Monday morning, police found a car parked nearby. On Wednesday in court, prosecutors said three guns were found inside it — a 40-caliber handgun, a 357 revolver and a 9 millimeter carbine rifle in the trunk.

Again…couldn’t have happened.  “Carbine”!?  What the hell is a carbine?  I think the proper term is “assault weapon” isn’t it?  Chicago 7 needs to get with the program.

You know it’s coming don’t  you?  I can’t disappoint you either…

Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis joined Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez after the bond hearing. Both called the shooting of Valadez, a three-year member of the Chicago Police Department, a wakeup call for common sense gun laws.

Yes common sense gun laws are the answer.  What other gun laws do they need in Chicago?  You can’t have one now?  Fair question but you aren’t progressive enough if you don’t know the answer…the answer is that there needs to be no guns anywhere then Chi-town wouldn’t be victimized by such.  Because you see…your ownership of handguns is the problem, not say Shawn Gaston…

Nevermind this…the problem is not enough common sense gun laws..

Alvarez says last month, Illinois lawmakers turned down a bill her office had drafted that targeted known gang members and would have kept Gaston behind bars.

Please pay no attention to what we actually do…just listen to our call for more common sense gun laws

Police say Gaston and Walker are both convicted felons. In fact, Gaston has been arrested at least 13 times on charges including robbery and assault.

Oh..yeah the guns are the problem here…

spearheaded the very fast efforts to reverse the DoD empty brass policy.  John Tester and Max Baucus,  from Montana seem to be the prime movers, hats off to them on this issue.  Where were the spineless Republicans?  I hope to hear.  Not without mentioning the firestorm of protest from the gun owning community, at least some of them…though I wonder how much the duck gun crowd was there.

to worry about gun control and taking guns away from citizens, Obammy Mommy sure is doing a good job of hurting the gun owning public and wasting tax money.

From David Codrea’s Gun Rights Examiner Column here

We talked yesterday about a new mandate from the Department of Defense–one that further indicates the Obama administration’s hostility toward guns. Surplus military brass has been mandated to be mutilated before being resold, essentially making it worthless for reuse in ammunition. This will not only squeeze an already tight ammunition supply, but at a time when the U.S. government is desperately overburdening us with debt, it makes no sense to turn off a ready source of revenue (the move effectively cuts the value of the brass in half).

I wonder what the American Hunters and Shooters Association thinks about this…ok, I’m snickering…The sad part is that Joe Sixpack and his deer rifle or duck gun doesn’t really care and doesn’t see how it matters to him.

Mayor Daley has argued that security and terrorism won’t be an issue if his Olympic dreams come true because, by 2016, there will be a surveillance camera on every street corner in Chicago.

How about we start in that criminals office?

here

On Thursday, Orozco refused to say how many cameras are currently linked to the 911 center. But, he reiterated Daley’s earlier promise.  “We’re going to grow the system until we eventually cover one end of the city to the other,” he said.

“But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.”

but all the people making public comments about shooting GWB in the head never got a visit from the secret service did they?

Story here with video

Commoners will though…and it will get you pulled over too…

The police officers who stopped Oklahoma City motorist Chip Harrison and confiscated a sign from his car told him he has a right to his beliefs, but the U.S. Secret Service “could construe this as a threat against President Obama,” according to the incident report released this morning.

The sign, which read “Abort Obama Not the Unborn,” was returned to Harrison later that day, the report said.

Police spokesman Steve McCool said this morning that the sign was taken in error, and Oklahoma City residents should not be worried that their First Amendment rights will be violated. He said a supervisor “intervened and quickly returned the sign” after Harrison called the police department.

Ah…but you need to be interviewed to see if you are a member of a “hate group”.  Was Spike Lee interviewed?  How about the New York state official?  I doubt it.  Just the peons.

but I may soon learn it is about property rights or some such…

here

A West Allis municipal judge today ruled in favor of a local man arrested for disorderly conduct after a neighbor complained that he was carrying a gun while planting a tree.

I might add he was arrested in his own yard, planting the tree…doing nothing but wearing a sidearm in a holster…  Wisconsin doesn’t prohibit the open carry of a firearm.  Thus the bullshit “disorderly conduct” charge, from the stasi in West Allis.

John Pierce from Open Carry sums it up pretty well:

Said Pierce: “Really, the larger issue is not even a gun rights issue. It’s the issue of having a disorderly conduct statute that is a catchall statute for otherwise legal behavior.”
