from Alan Korwin’s blog…here Chicago’s very own…WGN…
…The media nationwide has its panties in a knot because a person showed up at an Obama protest bearing arms and wearing a white shirt and tie. Not just any firearm, but what they like to vilify as an “assault” rifle — an AR-15 typical household single-shot long gun. But to the media, it’s a menacing black gun. And it was worn by a black man, a fact they tried to hide. I took repeated calls for “news” interviews about this incredible occurrence…
Your hometown station WGN offered up these gems…
Chicago’s WGN couldn’t believe we have the right to keep and bear arms out here. I had to tell them most places have RKBA, a surprise to them in their little cloister. “Do people shoot each other on the streets a lot?” They actually asked that. These folks aren’t in a bubble, they’re in a vacuum, they get nothing. “With your new guns-in-bars law, which has created quite a commotion here in Chicago, are there shootouts in bars?” I’m not making this up.
Get it? Get it? “Do people shoot each other on the streets a lot?” Try this link. Gee I dunno WGN…do peopole in Chicago shoot each other on the streets a lot? Of course how could that be…nasty handguns aren’t allowed in Chi-Town. Why don’t you folks at WGN ask Mayor Dick?
I was only the servant of my country and had I, at any moment, failed to express her unflinching resolve to fight and conquer, I should at once have been rightly cast aside. -Churchill
What has gone awry in Britain? A complete loss of self-respect?…
Brit dad takes kids to park after school…a few punks block the swingset, he asks them to move so his daughter can swing…they grudgingly move, only to say something “horrible” to the daughter as soon as the dad steps away…all of which apparently leads to a personal trauma of epic proportions for Brit dad…
I have dreaded something like this since I became a dad. As a young man I got into fights but since having children I have tried to mellow, to demonstrate to my kids that violence is not the answer (and because I’m a 5ft 7in 42-year-old who never was particularly good at the whole scrapping malarkey). On the other hand, what message am I sending to my children by being pushed around? How can I tell my son to stand up for himself if I won’t stand up for him against bullies?
Life as a modern dad is full of these dilemmas. Working from home, I get to spend time with the children — and the dishwasher. As the son of a militant feminist, I was brought up thinking that this was A Good Thing. Yet recently I read a letter in The Times from a woman whose husband had lost his job; she found having him moping around the house all day very unsexy. Is there some deep part of my psyche that feels somehow emasculated?
So Brit dad summons up the stones enough to “confront” the punks and say “did you say something to my daughter?” Wow…coming up with that caused a major trauma did it? Eventually punks back down and say “no” they didn’t.
The Mayor of London recently advised Londoners — including his own four children — to walk away from trouble rather than get involved. But what would Boris Johnson do if someone picked on his children? I ask the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) what I should have done. The response is predictably anodyne: “The MPS recognises the concern residents have regarding antisocial behaviour. We work closely with other agencies to tackle the problem of youth crime. If anyone witnesses possible offences by youths, we advise them to contact police.”
The result? How about this video. You see it is best to walk away, just call the police. How could anyone stand by and watch this happen? This should tell you how…
Here lies my difficulty: were the youths committing an offence or simply being offensive? As I didn’t hear what they supposedly said maybe I should have backed off. But that’s what people do all the time: walk away, surrender our open spaces. The more I think about my actions, the more convinced I am that I did the right thing.
Gee? Yah think? So he is so conflicted he calls the police? Predictably they counsel pacifism…”antisocial behaviour” it is…I guess even more conflicted now our protagonist then…
Just to make sure, I consult the clinical psychologist Linda Blair, whose book The Happy Child is published next month. “By approaching those youths you were placing your needs before those of your children,” she says. “By walking away you would have been protecting them and also providing a role model for the future.
“In this sort of situation you need to breathe in, hold it, then let the air out of your mouth. Ask yourself: is my child in immediate danger? If the answer is no, walk away. If they are in danger, you will do the right thing every time to protect your DNA, to preserve your own genetic material.”
What?!? He calls a shrink…the author of yes, that’s right “The Happy Child” to get another opinion on what he did. Walking away would have been the proper role model don’t you see. Take a deep breath?! WTF? “Preserve your genetic material”!?!?!?!? Yes it’s funny but truly sad. Protect your genetic material are you kidding me?
Of course Britain has long since surrendered their right to own a handgun, and are well on their way to giving up the right to defend themselves much less their property or genetic material.
Self-respect, it’s a terrible thing to lose.
Dealing with “anti-social behaviour” apparently means surrendering the streets to every punk and hoodlum in sight. For God sakes don’t stand up to them, let evil win at all costs. Could this possibly be the same people who stood tall and alone during the blitz?
Britain has now given us this, yes the “anti-stab knife”, in a society that is now on it’s way to banning knives. How do you eat your boiled meat without a knife? Knife registration? Joking you say?
The first “anti-stab” knife is to go on sale in Britain, designed to work as normal in the kitchen but to be ineffective as a weapon…It was invented by industrial designer John Cornock, who was inspired by a documentary in which doctors advocated banning traditional knives.
Do you think these Brit doctors want to ban surgical knives? Of course not, they are the only ones who can use a knife…not you commoners.
Police recorded more than 26,000 serious knife attacks in the financial year to March 2009, an increase of six per cent on the previous year’s total. The figures have brought calls for tougher punishments for youths caught carrying knives. Police leaders admitted last night that the findings demonstrate that knife crime is “spreading”.
David Codrea over at the War on Guns keeps pretty good track of the doings in Sarah Brady Paradise, where all is peaches and cream…er strawberries and cream.
In recent years governments have even felt it necessary to prevent the public from defending themselves with imitation weapons. In 1994 an English home-owner, armed with a toy gun, managed to detain two burglars who had broken into his house while he called the police. When the officers arrived, they arrested the home-owner for using an imitation gun to threaten or intimidate. In a similar incident the following year, when an elderly woman fired a toy cap pistol to drive off a group of youths who were threatening her, she was arrested for putting someone in fear. Now the police are pressing Parliament to make imitation guns illegal.
More here from a violent American. And speaking of violence?
Britain’s violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed. Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa – widely considered one of the world’s most dangerous countries.
But never mind that, you still will get a Euro-lecture if you suggest there is anything fundamentally wrong with the Brit view on crime and punishment much less guns. Gun-crazed cowboys like Americans just aren’t sufficiently evolved to take the high road…and before you get too upity…the U.S. still has more homicides, a source of pride for Euro gun grabbers. You see it is better to be stabbed to death, and unable to defend yourself with an effective weapon, than having those nasty handguns around. Such the barbarians are we.
Think it can’t happen here? Why is it that schools punish everyone for “fighting” regardless of who started it, who the aggressor was or any consideration of right or wrong. Defending yourself is will not get you subjected to punishment in most American schools. Why do people stand by and watch a 90 year old man be beaten? I wonder. How could those people stand there? Because they have been conditioned to. Why do we stand by and watch horror and attrocity in the world? Because to do something about it would require some determination of moral rights and wrongs, verboten in the politically correct world.
One ought never to turn one’s back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never! -Churchill
for well over 100 years the Brits have been steadfast allies, reliable and could be counted on to stand toe to toe in the defense of freedom…however their society has collectively lost its mind completely…
Golfers arrested after fighting off gang attempting to steal clubs
Golfers arrested after fighting off gang attempting to steal clubs …
According to reports, the players were about to tee off on the fourth hole of the course in Bromley, Kent, when they were confronted by a group of teenagers brandishing planks of wood.
Yes you get arrested for defending yourself….
Mr Walden said: “I cannot say who was at fault and who was not at fault yesterday.
Hmmm lessee, it’s a golf course…one group is on a tee box with golf clubs…the others are carrying planks of wood and attack them…so we arrest everyone…just can’t figure out whose at fault…cheerio
Not to mention that it is illegal to defend your home and your property there now too. Britain has been lost to leftist idiocy, I see no other way to put it.
June 3, 2009 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — Two men accused of killing a Chicago police officer were ordered held without bail Wednesday. Wednesday’s bond hearing was packed with officers from the 7th District where Alejandro Valadez worked the streets of Englewood. Prosecutors described both suspects as reputed gang members who were out to get revenge when they allegedly shot Valadez. Emotions were high in court as their family members fought back tears.
Shot him with what? No handguns in Chicago, just ask Reichsmarshall Dailey.
Within minutes of the shooting early Monday morning, police found a car parked nearby. On Wednesday in court, prosecutors said three guns were found inside it — a 40-caliber handgun, a 357 revolver and a 9 millimeter carbine rifle in the trunk.
Again…couldn’t have happened. “Carbine”!? What the hell is a carbine? I think the proper term is “assault weapon” isn’t it? Chicago 7 needs to get with the program.
You know it’s coming don’t you? I can’t disappoint you either…
Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis joined Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez after the bond hearing. Both called the shooting of Valadez, a three-year member of the Chicago Police Department, a wakeup call for common sense gun laws.
Yes common sense gun laws are the answer. What other gun laws do they need in Chicago? You can’t have one now? Fair question but you aren’t progressive enough if you don’t know the answer…the answer is that there needs to be no guns anywhere then Chi-town wouldn’t be victimized by such. Because you see…your ownership of handguns is the problem, not say Shawn Gaston…
Nevermind this…the problem is not enough common sense gun laws..
Alvarez says last month, Illinois lawmakers turned down a bill her office had drafted that targeted known gang members and would have kept Gaston behind bars.
Please pay no attention to what we actually do…just listen to our call for more common sense gun laws…
Police say Gaston and Walker are both convicted felons. In fact, Gaston has been arrested at least 13 times on charges including robbery and assault.
Well, welcome to Springfield, Illinois where State Rep. Andre M. Thapedi, a Democrat representing the 32nd District on Chicago’s South Side has introduced an amendment to House Bill 1966 that specifically prevents residents in the Englewood neighborhood from owning, selling, buying or manufacturing “any assault weapon or .50 caliber rifle.” He’s done some serious homework on this by identifying the specific zip codes – 60619, 60620, 60621, 60629, 60636 and 60637 – where the residents apparently cannot be trusted with these firearms while, apparently because every other zip code in the state was not included, every other Illinois citizen is free to possess these guns.
Just remember they are too busy with the economic crisis.
The Texas legislature currently has pending two bills of particular interest to me concerning concealed carry licenses. One essentially enables the CHL holder to carry on a college campus. My senator Robert Duncan (R) Lubbock- is now opposing this bill per his office today. His staffer read a prepared response, that gives the usual blah blah about how he supports the Second Amendment and understands the Virginia Tech examples etc…but will still be voting against it if necessary. What did I find lacking in the response? A reason. Good grief, could we at least get a reason? What argument did he find persuasive to vote against this bill? There isn’t one…or at least one that would sway such a staunch 2nd Amendment supporter as he claims he is. And if there exists such a moving reason that would sway such a staunch 2nd Amendment supporter I’d damn sure like to know what it is….maybe I’d change my mind.
Is Duncan a toadie to some leftist administrators at Texas Tech? Don’t know but it would seem logical.
Sen. Robert Duncan, Lubbock office 806-762-1122. Next election it might be a good idea to find a conservative, rather than a master of mealy mouthed lip service.
The Arkansas Senate Judiciary Committee killed a bill Friday that would have allowed concealed carry in churches (removed them from a list of prohibited places). That is because well of course government knows what is best for churches, and it is a long tradition in the United States of government running churches and telling them what they can do on their own property.
I thought I’d share some Arkansas Wisdom…I wish I knew an Arkansas state senator…I know a power-broking majority leader though in the house…anyhoo…here is some wisdom:
Here is a quote from Jim Luker, a Democrat from Wynne:
Enjoys talking down to constituents
“Y’all live on the frontier, I guess,” said Sen. Jim Luker, D-Wynne, after listening to arguments in favor of allowing concealed weapons in churches.
Luker said “if we go there on this issue, you can bet that it won’t be long before we’ll be hearing from folks who want to carry their gun” in other places where they are banned, such as schools.
“I’m not willing to acknowledge that our society has broken down to the degree that we’ve all got to start carrying a gun to protect ourselves,” Luker said.
This is idiot hall of fame material here isn’t it? The “frontier”…. no mention of penises, but you know he is thinking it. I guess I live in the frontier, being an almighty elected official I guess Jim lives in a impermeable safety bubble. But no…you can be sure if it were Jim’s ass on the line, he would want some other option than hiding under the pew. If this ass can say this publicly on this issue, I bet he really talks to his constituents like morons. They did however put him in this seat didn’t they. Maybe they would do something about him.
Here is some more…
Sen. Sue Madison, D-Fayetteville, said she didn’t see the need for the bill.
Master Strawman Builder-Then Beats the Hell out of it
“I don’t know of any church where the carrying of guns is a sacred belief intrinsic to the doctrine of that church, like the holding of communion might be,” Madison said.
I didn’t realize the question was whether carrying a handgun was intrinsic to the doctrine of a particular church…I guess I misread the bill…
And more…
Hank Wilkins, Democrat from Pine Bluff…
Trembles in Fear at Inanimate Objects-Particularly those that are concealed
“I would have a great deal of concern, fear and trembling, not so much for my safety but for the safety and the message that we send to our congregants to even encourage or allow the carrying of firearms in a sacred place of worship,” Wilkins said.
God help this man, truly. How does he make it through the day in Pine Bluff, Arkansas trembling and shaking all the time. If there is a gun-ridden city in Arkansas it is Pine Bluff, and it isn’t from law-biding citizens with permits. It’s from the ass hanging out crowd.
Where in the hell does the state legislature get off telling a Church what they can and cannot allow in their buildings? Oh well, a non issue I guess since we don’t live on the frontier do we Sen. Luker?
And from today’s news…whoopsie! Story here (CNN) — The pastor of a Maryville, Illinois, church was shot to death during a service Sunday in front of horrified parishioners who then tackled the gunman, state police said.
Fred Winters, the pastor of the First Baptist Church, was shot and killed during the 8 a.m. service, and the attacker and two parishioners suffered knife wounds in the attack, authorities said.
The gunman entered during the service and walked up to the pulpit.
Winters and the gunman apparently exchanged words before the 27-year-old man fired four shots, hitting the pastor’s Bible and then the pastor, said Illinois State Police Director Larry Trent….
Well hell Jim…I guess you’re an idiot. I guess some already knew that. Go ahead though, tell how it wouldn’t have mattered…it’s an isolated incident yada yada yada…
The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.
Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border. “I think that will have a positive impact in Mexico, at a minimum.”
Ah, so we forfeit our rights so that Mexico benefits…neat theory. The crime problems of Mexico are all related to ouro gun shows if you haven’t heard already. I heard many times from my “pro gun” friends and others on the internet that the Messianic President just simply wouldn’t have time for this gun control, he had too many evil problems to fight from the Cheney Administration. I guess it was a comforting bit of personal rationalization, maybe like having Walgreens add orange flavor to the nasty medicine you have to take.
So we are about to ban the sale of the most popular selling rifle platform on the market today (AR 15), the most popular rifle for target rifle competition today (AR 15) and though I don’t have the numbers I would be willing to bet the most popular rifle platform at the Camp Perry matches each summer. All of this for Mexico? I guess if you buy the lie about not having time for gun control you will also buy the lie that t his is to help (and would help) Mexico.
I have been able to obtain a photo of a gang of assault rifle wielding terrorists, bent on the destruction of Mexican society and ours.
Assault Rifle Gang-brazenly posing
As you can see their gang is related to Arizona, a border state that is doing everything it can to destroy Mexican society. As I understand it these bangers cross the border with arms caches to sell to Mexican drug lords. I further suspect that these bangers all acquired their evil rifles via a gun show loophole.
The Elegant Tyrant with Himmler and Goering behind him
Should we be surprised that a corrupt Chicago machinist would lie like well a corrupt Chicago machinist? No, it’s just his nature, like the scorpion.
Just recently Reason Magazine assured us that:
But as far as actual action to restrict gun rights on the federal level, not much is imminent or moving. Congress and the new president are very, very busy spending the U.S. further into hyperinflation or bankruptcy and figuring out exit strategies (or not) from Bush-era foreign policy entanglements. While Justice Department’s focus on enforcing existing gun laws may well increase, we’re unlikely to see any significant new federal efforts that infringe on the Heller-certified constitutional right to own common weapons for self-defense in the home.
It’s like singing soothing songs to the kiddies before you give them the cyanide laced cool aid so they don’t worry til it’s a little late. Hush little baby don’t you cry…Osama’s gonna tell you another lie…when the water starts to boil it’ll be too late…the ATF will be at your gate….
I should be a poet…
From a Chicago Sun-Times story titled “Obama: Don’t stock up on guns”:
As gun sales shoot up around the country, President-elect Barack Obama said Sunday that gun-owning Americans do not need to rush out and stock up before he is sworn in next month.
“I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment,” Obama said at a news conference. “Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven’t indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word.”…
The restraining orders, however, were no better than pieces of paper, Notice said. In the last days of her life, he said, she was continually harassed. She went to police complaining about it, but they did nothing, he said.
Imagine that…the restraining order did no good, who’d a thunk it?
“He stabbed her directly in the heart twice. Stabbed her in the back once. Stabbed her in the chest twice,” her distraught father said. Police arrested her former boyfriend, James Carter II of Bloomfield, Conn., in connection with the slaying.
Did not have to end this way did it. Dad wants to blame the police…I understand but how about teaching and equipping your daughter to protect herself? But that’s just me-I’m a gun freak.
Her father said Carter had been harassing Tiana and she had filed a restraining order against him about a month ago.
A month…seems like long enough to do something? We just need a 30 day waiting period now on handgun purchase that’ll help.
“Her tires were slashed. Notes were dropped at her door. E-mails were sent,” Notice said.
That is what I would call a hint…Dad.
The video accompanying the article says she did everything to protect herself…well almost everything. Everything stylish and politically correct. The security camera system did it’s job…it got the murder on tape, helps police solve the crime a lot. She lived in Connecticut, wonder what the gun laws are like there?
Let’s see here… ah there we go. Connecticut… a “may issue” state…the we’ll give you one if you’re famous kind of state otherwise, tough stalkings. What else? Connecticut honors no other states permits…so if the victim were say a MA resident, which it appears she might have been and been fortunate enough perhaps to get a Mass. permit (LOL) she would have not been able to carry in CT. Nice. Permit generally takes 8 weeks to obtain. That is helpful. You apply to the chief of police who can do whatever the hell they feel like.
Nice job CT and MA congratulations all around…well played.
Around 8 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was walking home from the university and talking to her boyfriend on her cell phone when her boyfriend heard her scream and hang up, said Officer Katie Flood. The man called police, who went to check on the woman.
From Cooper…
CONDITION WHITE- White is the lowest level on the escalator. In Condition White one is unaware, not alert, oblivious. This state can be characterized as “daydreaming” or “preoccupied”. People in White tend to walk around with their heads down, as if watching their own feet. They do not notice the impending danger until it literally has them by the throat.
Good thing UNL keeps those nasty guns off campus, it guarantees everyone is disarmed coming and going and facilitates “inappropriate” grabbing…it also promotes a safer work environment for abuctors, rapists, killers…etc..
